Weeds are invasive i.e. their rate of reproduction is very high. Hence, they grow more in short period of time becoming a menace for farmers.
There are many varieties of herbicides: selective & non selective, pre emergence & post emergence, contact & systemic and so on. It is therefore important to note the time of usage & types of usage before application a herbicide on field.
Patton is a broad spectrum, non-selective contact herbicide. It effectively controls broad- leaved weeds & grasses. It is extremely fast being a contact herbicide and hence, the result is fairly visible.
Pack sizes: 250ml, 500ml, 1ltr & 5ltr.
Paraquat dichloride is an organic compound.
It acts by inhibiting photosynthesis. In light-exposed plants, it accepts electrons from photo- system I and transfers them to molecular oxygen. In this manner, destructive reactive oxygen species are produced. In forming these reactive oxygen species, the oxidized form of para- quat is regenerated, and is again available to shunt electrons from photosystem I to restart the cycle. Hence, it keeps creating itself while destroying the existing weed.
This mode of action is what makes it quick-action herbicide.
Paraquat, with its distinctive mode of action, is one of few chemical options that can be used to prevent and mitigate problems with weeds that have become resistant to the very widely non-selective herbicides.
